    And I also!

Very nice I was thinking of doing the same thing but where or how is that hitch rigged for the boat? The RV dealers around here say it cant be done or they dont have the equipment for it.

Any good custom hitch shop can do it...they just extend the plates from the I beams, put in the appropriate crossmember and receiver and you are good to go. Cost me about $4oo for a 5000 lb hitch

Tows like a dream!...just plan your stops at pilot, TA, or other truck stops, because there is NO backing up with that monster!

Well, I've seen people back up with rigs like that...but:

    1) you better have a lot of room
    2) you better be dang good at it

How do you unhook at campgrounds? Do you unhook the boat somewhere, then back into your campsite? My Cedar Creek 5th wheel has the full fiberglass rear cap which covers the frame. I've been considering adding a custom class III hitch to the frame so I could at least have a bike rack. Being able to tow a boat would be a bonus!!

I guess in a nutshell, can you elaborate on the campground procedures?

    Thanks!!

Re: 70 feet of pure fun! (Duane Harper)

Sure...If I can, I reserve a pull through site that is for a motor coach.

When I get to the campground,
    1) I find a spot to drop the boat
    2) I pull through or back the fifth wheel into the site
    3) I unhook the truck and pick up the boat
    4) park boat and truck in front of camper

At Home, I drop the boat in a subdivision across the street from my house, then park the fifth wheel, then go get the boat and garage it

Most campgrounds have 60-80 ft long sites...just tell them what you are doing when you make reservations, and they can accomodate you.

    Hope this helps...

Re: 70 feet of pure fun! (2100greenmonster)

Not only is it illegal in some states, it is illegal on certain highways in states where it is otherwise legal.

Lots of things to keep up with towing this way.

Also, if you want to add a hitch to a camper, you better make sure the camper is rated to have a hitch, or you could get a ticket or worse if something happens.

Looks like fun to me also. But don't drive that train through NC, Not unless you want us to have a face to face talk. And afterwards that train will be shorter when you leave....No 3 combinations of no kind in NC.....
