This is the next project for me. I'm heading out to get the lumber next week. Do I get Pressure treated (not good for enviroment but will last)? Or non treated and coat with a sealant? Pine A grade okay?
How are the bunks fastened to the frame? With out taking apart, I see the bolts. Are they all the way through the bunk and then recessed? As far as the carpet... I planned on glueing the carpet on and then secure it with some stainless staples.

I just did mine. I used pressure treated. I used stainless staples but did not glue the carpet and so far no probs. Mine are held on with bolts thru the bottom that screw into the wood. They dont go all the way thru. Only old boat trlr they went all the way thru from the top and were countersunk. Just depends on the trailer I spose
That makes sense to me now. I already have the glue from doing the front deck so I'm just going to use it on the 8 inch boards.
Any idea how much it costs to make your own fender bunk board? I need to replace one and C&O sells a composite ready to install bunk board for $100 each.
I used pressure treated 2*4's, and stainless staples. Also you may want to consider stainless through bolts The galvanized I used are already showing rust only after 8 months.
