    1999 Evinrude Ficht Engine codes...a little further explanation

    My 1999 Evinrude Ficht 200, MOD: E200FPLEEN S/N: G04696626 , is throwing 3 codes if i am reading the diagnostic software properly.

    26 - 12V Circuit below range - Battery Voltage less than 12V @500 to 2000RPM or less than 12.5V above 2000RPM. Perform stator/charging test.

    I dont believe its a stator problem because the battery is an optima and fully charged, before i put the optima in, i threw this code but the motor still ran, just ran choppy. The motor wont run at all now, and the check engine siren sounds as soon as i turn the key on, although i didnt crank it over too much. This motor usually fires after just a single spin, when it didnt start immediately, i knew there was still a problem.

    28 - Shift Switch Malfunction - Any suggestions on how to test this?

    82 - Ignition Primary Circuit #2 Open - Any suggestions how to test this?

    I'm bringing it to a local boat mechanic on monday but i figured that if there was anything i could test beforehand, might as well give it a shot. I have a computer engineering background so feel free to get as technical as needed.

    If the engine has the regulator rectifier built in to the EMM. You will need an EMM. If it is seperately mounted below the EMM, you need a regulator rectifier. The primary ignition code could be a bad connection to the ignition coil. If not, you need an igntion coil or an EMM. The shift switch is probably sticking.

    Searched the engine over today wire by wire and found a loose wire, not sure if it is an ignition wire or injector wire, but it looks like a spark plug cap. It was disconnected. Took the boat to the lake tonight and she runs like a top. We are back in business!
