Hi Guys- Have an issue I can't seem to figure out. Sorry it is a little long. I am running an 97 150 Ficht (E150ILEUC/G04283431) on a 93 Stratos 285ProXL. When running on plane (btwn 4000-5500 rpms) the motor started to die off like it is starved for gas, then stalled. No warning lts or horns. Checked the primer bulb- soft as if no gas was in it. Pumped it and nothing, no gas transfering, just feels like air. Try to start and it won't fire. I switched tanks and was able to slowly get gas into the bulb and it got firm. Try to start and flywheel engages but won't turn over. After switching tanks I went to start the check engine light came on right away w/ no horn. I limped back to the landing w/ trolling motor.
So here is what I have checked and some particulars on the issue:
Spark plugs (Champ QC12PEP)- No fouling, gapped correctly (new last yr at end of season).
Bulb (new last yr Evinrude brand): is still firm, very firm almost to the point you can't squeeze it.
Fuel lines- No restrictions or kinks.
Fuel filter- Evinrude brand- new last yr.
Checked and re-set Crank Sensor to correct setting.
Lift Pump- No leaks or damaged hoses, no gas dripping from hoses. I can hear pump engages as normal when I turn the key to "on".
Pulled codes- Only one:#37- water detected in fuel. One thing I noticed during the diagnostic (manually) when I was clearing the codes the fuel pump turned on and ran for awhile- longer than normal. - Is that a sign of something?
I was using my port tank for the first time to burn some gas from winter storage. Ran fine all day about 5 good long runs 10min +, but went bad on last run in. The other times I was out this yr it ran fine w/ that gas from last yr (treated w/ staybil marine as yrs before)on the Strb tank, but I did have to prime the bulb before each run. Prior to this problem when I was getting on plane (2k-3krpms) it sounded like it was stalling and as I trim up the probem went away and ran fine w/ no error lts or horn. Hopefully this makes some sense and someone can give me a little direction on what to check next or what might be the cause. Thanks for any help you can provide. Nice weather is short lived up here in MN and I would like to get back on the water ASAP!!!! Thanks again- Steve.
