Hey fella's i have a buddy who has a Ford Ranger 4x4 with the 3.0 V6 he was wondering how much Boat he could Tow safely with his set up any thing that the guru's here would help would b greatly appreciated , personally i have a 17.5 ft Laser Bass Boat with a 150 Suzi on it an i towed that with my S-10 with a 4.3 but never any great distances an it seemed to do fine .
He should be fine if he is sticking to the bass boat range. It's rated for 5000 lbs, so just make sure he can stop the rig ok.

He needs to look at the options the truck has, and check in the owners manula.
A girl I use to date bought one that was 4x4, 4/0, big front axle & trans. It also had 4.10 gears and limited slip. It was rated to tow 6500 lbs as it was built per the owners manual.
My concern would be braking.

Braking and weight on the bed/bumper would be my concern. I know the ratings, but when you see it in reality that's another thing and I have the undercarriage hitch, not just the bumper. I normally use a Tahoe to pull my Stratos 486 fish/ski, but once hooked it up to my 96 Ranger/3.0L/auto to move the boat around the yard for some maintenance. The weight of the boat really pulled the back end down. I personally wouldn't use mine to pull a larger fiberglass boat more than around the yard. But, this is a larger fish/ski, so keep that in mind.
Thanx fellas for the info will let him know i don't think he is looking at a Fiberglas boat though probaly aluminum
He needs to find out the gross vehicle weight rating of his truck and be absolutely certain the weight of the boat, the tow vehicle, and all contents of the boat and truck, including passengers, do not exceed the GVWR.
