    Bearing repack

I have a 1999 Nitro. I religiously pump 2-3 pumps of grease in the b-buddies after a trip expecially on a hot day. My question is I have never repacked the bearings. What do you all think?

Time for replacement seals, and while you're at it, get new bearings.

    Re: Bearing repack (FISHON317)

If you pump 2-3 shots of grease every trip you have already blown out your inner seals.

You shouldn't need to pump anywhere close to that amount of grease to keep them full. I put 20K+ miles on my trailer a year and only add grease 2-3 times in a season.

Look for grease on the inside of your tire rim. If there is some there it is time to replace the seals. If you need to replace the seal, you may as well repack the bearings while you have it all apart.

Chill out on the grease...Get the protectors with the blue indicators, as long as the indicator is sticking out about an 1/8 inch, the hub is pressurized and you dont need to add any grease...

How often should they need repacked? Or should you just let them go as long as the blue is showing?

Re: Bearing repack (Lyn O. Dyer)

Thanks Lyn. Mine have been good and are still showing blue. Got the boat new in 2002 and most of my trips have been local. Longest trips are around 200 mi.
I do check for "play" in the bearings by jacking up and check side to side and top to bottom movement also spin the wheel and everything sounds smooth.
I always check to see if the bearings are hot when I get out at the ramp and when I get back home. They have never been more than warm. In your opinion should I repack now or just keep doing as posted here? Never have had to add grease to the bearings.
