All I've been able to find is 12" wide carpet, which won't quite wrap all the way around the 2" x 6" bunk boards. Is it "alright" to leave a small carpet gap on the bottom of the bunks or is there wider carpet available out there somewhere?

I just called Marine Master (Triton Trailers) and they sent me the right size pieces already cut. I'm sure who ever makes your firends boat can do the same.

Great idea Russ - unless your trailer manufacturer is out of business!![]()

True, but if you had the lengths of the current boards one of the trailer makers should have the carpet for it.
Call thes guys---- they can do most anything and are good folks to do business with![]()

On my last boat I just went to Lowes and bought some indoor/outdoor carpet and cut my own. Alot cheaper and never had a problem. if u have to leave a gap at the bottom thats not a bad thing either as the water will be able to drain off the carpet quicker
There is supposed to be a 1/2 to 3/4 inch space (lengthwise) in the carpet on the bottom of the bunk.
This allows water to drain off and allows the bunk to dry quicker.
Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day
Teach a man to fish, he will complain that you stole his fishing spot.
Bought a fair sized roll of indoor outdoor carpet at Lowe's to re-carpet a jon boat I was re-doing to sell. With the leftover, I was able to re-carpet my 2"x6"x10' bunkboards - and yes there is some "open space" on the bottom of the boards, but it helps the boards dry faster (don't forget to use treated lumber and stainless staples & hardware when you re-install your boards - helps everything last longer.
