Another UFP brake system question or 2??

Is the A60 actuater from a drum brake trailer the same as a disk brake assembly?? My 94 Gamblers disk brake master cylinder is shot. I have a new master cylinder from a damaged Nitro trailer with drum brakes. It looks identical. The brakes never worked since i bought the boat. I had some time this morning so I swapped the master cylinder out and blead the system. I cant spin the rotors unless a tire is attached for leverage. It will spin but not freely, is this normal?? If I crack open the bleader to releave pressure, they spin freely. After I activate the acuater and release it they wont spin freely. I took it for a 4 mile round trip and the hubs are pretty warm. I never had brakes before so this is new to me. It towed fine without but figured I would repair them. My concern is a long trip will they overheat. Can you guys spin your tires freely or do they drag?? Thanks

Here's some info. You should be good as long as when you try and compress the actuator it goes no further than half way and no shorter.

Sounds like you have some other issues also , the disc master cylinder has a hose barb for the solenoid ..Call me on Monday...800-854-1905 ext.107...

Yes it has a hose to the back up solenoid. It is working, i tried to back up a hill with the wiring disconnected and it wont budge, plug it back in and it moves. It seems like its not relieving enough pressure to free up the calipers. If I activate the system and return it to normal there is drag. If I crack the bleeders there is still pressure-not a lot but the fluid has pressure, and then the calipers spin freely. I have the locking cap to keep the brakes from activating, I will use it until I can get this squared away. Thanks

Figured out what the problem was! I did some more research on brake issues and came across an interesting topic about storing the trailer with the master cylinder partially compressed. It will build up rust and wont let the brakes release completely. I took it back apart and sure enough the plunger was stuck in about 3/4". I got it freed up but will just buy a new one Monday because Im sure it will leak.

Correct, anytime the actuator is not hooked to a tow ball, the inner member must be fully extended, the pin in the slot in the side needs to be all the way forward..if not, air can get into the piston bore behing the piston, cause corrosion , then the piston cannot fully retract, causing the brakes to drag and overheat the hub....it's in the manual at ufpnet.com..
