Ok..........I bought a new to me truck. My boat has a 5 flat end but the truck I have now has a 4 flat. Now the 5th wire on my boat is for back up lights not the brakes as I have surge brakes on my trailer. Now for the question.
Should I just forget about the back up lights or figure out a way to rewire for a 5 flat on my truck?
The 5th wire not only for the back-up lights. It is also used to energize the by-pass solenoid so you can back the trailer and not activate the brakes on the trailer. Need to rewire the truck hardness to 5 wire.

On my trailer, I am pretty sure that the 5th wire has nothing to do with the brakes.
If you have surge brakes, the 5th wire does do something.
Ok........Can I just tap into the back up lights wires and use that for going to a 5 flat on my truck.
