    Trailer running lights question

On my trailer, the running lights on the driver side stopped working but the brake and turn signal on that side are fine. They never flickered like there was a short in them, just stopped. Any ideas what could have caused this? I used a circuit tester on the truck and everything checked ok. My guess is a wire came undone at the front of the trailer since all the marker lights on that side went out as well. Could this be caused by a bad ground connection or would that cause all trailer lights to go out? Thanks for the input!

Did all of the running lights on the driver side quit working(such as the yellow side and red corner marker). If so then you probably have a bad (brown wire) on that side of the trailer. If the side marker works then you may just have a bad bulb in your tail light. A bad ground wire usually affects all of the lights somewhat.

This may not help but I recently had a similar problem. My brake and turn signal would work without the running lights on but as soon as I turned my running lights on then nothing would work. I re-spliced my running light power connection and the ground connections and it solved the problem. I read on one of the trailer websites that if the ground wire isn't good then it trys to pull too many amps and nothing works. This may not be the exact problem that you are having but it is worth checking.

Re: Trailer running lights question (rbarton)

Thanks for the input. After seeing this and talking to one of the service guys, I am going to get under the trailer and take the bolts off the trailer for the grounding wires, clean them, then put them back on. Hopefully that will fix it. On my way home from the dealership, the running lights on the driver side stopped working. It was snowing pretty hard so I don't know if some crud got in there and made a bad connection or what. Thanks again!
