    Trailering an Triton 18 Explorer

HI guys... I'm looking to by7 this boat next week but I don't haver a "real" tow vehicle. I own a Dodge Intrepid SXT with a 3.5L V6. Is this car able to tow this bow with a class II hitch? I believe the whole package will way about 2400 lbs
Only other option i have is a Dodge Grand Caravan with a 3.8L V6.

I don't know if I would do it. I'm probably old fashioned, but if you are towing with a car, I think rear wheel drive is better. Ask this in the truck forum and get Jerry's view on it.

Assuming that either of your vehicles is rated for Class II (3500 lbs.), you can get by with the Caravan or Intrepid since where you live is pretty flat. However, you might have to be careful of the ramps you use as FWD will work against you. If your front wheels spin, put the shift selector in 2nd gear. And watch your following distances for braking and dont' get in a hurry.

Then plan on upgrading to a truck of SUV in the near future. I suspect the tongue weight of this rig is going to have a pretty noticeable impact when you lower it onto your hitch ball.

ditton on the following distance and braking. The 18 Explorer is being shipped WITHOUT trailer brakes.
