Looking for experienced opinions on this technology. I am considering a boat later this year that has these instead of the normal grease-packed bearings. My main concern is what would happen if the plastic cap were to bust while driving down the road. I would think that it wouldn't take long for the bearings to heat up and fail, but maybe there is a redundancy built in that would prevent the bearings from seizing.

Type oil hubs in the search and it will give you plenty to make a decision on.
You might want to check out the new Vault system on the EZ Loader trailers, it's a Hybird grease /oil mixture, it's maintenance free and you can get a 10 year warranty on them....

I checked the UFP website and it said the Vault system was coming soon but didn't have any info on it. Can you share what you know or point me in another direction so I can read up on it?
