What should i be looking for as far as max RPMS go for performance. Righ now Im running 4900 now and feel like thats a little low... but wanted to know what i was looking for before i started changing things (Motor height/prop pitch)

the book says 5500, I run mine 5800 with a 23 gade

im running a 24 raker re-pitched to a 23 and only pulling 4900 rpms...
5300-5500 rpm is the best for all around performance. sounds like you could use a bit less pitch, raise the motor, try a different style prop, or all of the above. Make sure that your motor is in top tune and is in good shape first as well as testing the tach for accuracy.

how would i test the tach for accuracy?
We have the exact same setup boat and engine size and prop and I was running 4900 at wot until I figured out I had a power pak and coil bad. It turnes 5400 now not saing this is your prob just saying making sure your engine s running right is very important
