Ficht to Carbed what adapter cable?
I recently switched from a 2000 Ficht 200 to a 1993 Johnson GT200. Can anyone tell me what adapter cable I would need to match up the gauges, ignition, etc. Also can I obtain this part from a local marina or is it something I need to order? Any help is appreciated..

Well I found the omc original cable/wiring harness on ebay for $35.00 which made me very happy. But my mechanic is having trouble getting the warning lights (self check) to function. He said hes been over the directions a hundred times and can't seem to figure it out. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance.

the '93 is not equipped with 4 separate alarm circuits like the '96 and later motors. You should not be using the SystemCheck tach with it. Are you sure you have the right adapter kit? Your oil tank internal circutry will be different also.

Thanks for the response SEAHORSE. The kit I bought was listed as old stock but new with the same part number as listed above and it appeared to be sealed as original. When you say SystemCheck tach can you explain further? Or are you saying the self check lights will not work with the '93 motor? Thanks for the help.

the '93 motor does not have the check capabilities, if Seahorse suggests you not use that particular tach, then take his advice and get a "standard" tach, he wil be correct with his advice.

Excuse me for butting in but, I use to have a 1985 XP 150 on my 2003 Key West, with system check gauges. I ordered my adapter cable from OMC/BRP, also I installed the new four wire OMS/VRO and everything worked as designed with the System check gauge. Again, are you sure that you have the correct adapter kit?

At this point I'm starting to doubt I have the right harness. My mechanic was able to get everything else to work except the self check (he didn't mention anything about the tach). He also said he had three wires that weren't mentioned in the directions. I'll inquire about the VRO to see what else was changed other than the plugged return line. I really hope it is the right harness or I'm out quite a few man hours of labor $$$$$$$$$.
