That just goes to show the old saying that they only kill the old weak and inferm is utter bull!@#%. Evey one of the PETA bunch ought to have to view that footage, and then see if they want to tell the yotes that they shouldn't eat meat and eat lettuce instead.
I try to not let them get by me if I can, this year have not got one yet but in years past have put a few Muzzys in them.

I wonder if that buck wasn't ill. He didn't look healthy but maybe that was just a summer look. I wonder if that wound on his rump wasn't from something else. An arrow through the lungs seems pretty humane compared to slow death and being eaten alive by coyotes.
wow - what's amazing is that whole episode happened in front of the camera and was caught on it!!

Coyotes do the same to moose as well. I saw a bunch of deer and moose kills from coyotes the last few years since we've had especially heavy snow fall lately. It's really put a lot of strain on our deer population in Maine.![]()
Last week while driving, I saw a couple of does getting run by 2 coyotes... It happens more than you think.
I try to shoot them when I have a chance, too, but the coyotes will just breed faster to offset the losses.![]()
So true on them multiplying quickly. The most effective tool in the North Woods was to snare coyotes, after threats from anti hunting groups of a lawsuit because of the possible snaring of the "endangered" Canadian lynx all snaring operations are now against the law....people used to catch 100's of coyotes a year and the population was well in check....calling and baiting isn't nearly as effective and the population is way up. Now the only way it will get back into check is when all the deer, rabbits, moose, turkeys,...numbers are down so far the coyotes die off from starvation and sickness. It sucks that the state wildlife department doesn't have the ability to have a backbone to protect the wildlife in a battle against anti hunting groups.![]()
I've heard about using a big trebel hook on a limb line w/ meat but that seems a little inhumane. It's supposed to work really well.

I've heard that technique used as well but it seems like a good way to catch a coon or bear dog too.

As a hunter, I could never do that - I don't like coyotes, but they deserve a more humane and painless ending than being a dry land fish on a hook. I wouldn't wish that on just about any animal.
They have to eat too. Cycle of life. We have a certain method of killing as humans and they have their own. I thought it was cool.![]()
