    Looking for an outfitter!!!

Ok guys I have gotten permission (yeah yeah have to let her think she had some say!! haha) to go on a paid hunt. I am looking for something within a day drive of Nashville TN and would really like to go to Pike Co IL. Was hoping you guys could throw out a few names and tell if you had personal experience there. I dont want to spend thousands of dollars. Looking for a good outfitter for a reasonable price. Thanks for your help!

I've hunted all over the midwest. Including Pike county, Illinois (3 years straight). That also includes Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, and of course Ohio where I live.

Pike county was an experience to say the least. The hunting was not even close to what I expected. It was so over hunted it wasn't funny. Out of all the places that I have hunted there is only one that I would even begin to recommend to anybody. That would be Illinois Wildlife Connections in Jasper county. I went there for my first ever out of state hunt many years ago. I stopped going there because we were hunting so many other states. I started going back there 2 years ago and the I have killed my two best bucks to date. Both are typical 8's. One grossed 155" and the other grossed 178". If you would like to check out his website it is http://www.ilwildlifeconnections.com I believe that tags either go back on sale today or next monday or tuesday.

Tell him that you heard about him from Josh Myers. If you look at the hunter photos, my 155'er is the cover deer on that page. And my 178 is on the front page about halfway down on the left.

whatever you do...dont go to Hadley..I have heard nothing but nightmare stories of that place...if your not a celeb hunter, or have a hunting show, you absolutly will not be hunting any of their prime farms....Pike County is so washed up its pathetic..Dont waste your money...If you want to save a bunch of money, and are willing to scout a little and get off the beaten path, there is some prime public land in Illinois, you just need to know where to look..If your wanting someone to take you and pick you up from your stand then this isnt for you...if this is something your interested in, shoot me a pm and ill try to point you in the right direction...

there are over 450 outfitters in pike county ill!!! yes in one county. beware of the outfits like hadley that run hundreds and hundreds of hunters on their land. there are some good spots there but big bucks are all over the country now. you can find as good a spot without the pressure. i have booked three hunts with IMB outfitters. they have a pike county operation but i hunt the missouri place they have. last year 9 out of 10 guys got a nice buck the week i was there. very controlled pressure on the land they manage. i think they are booked up for this year but you can do some research and find an outfitter that has a lot of ground and ask them how many hunters they take each year and how many stands they have etc. you usually get what you pay for so expect to pay 3 to 4k for a whitetail hunt on a prime place for 4 to 6 days within adays drive of nashville. kansas, texas and canada can cost more. good luck.
