If you go with the .44mag you want to have either rubber or at least partial rubber grips...the recoil with magnum rounds is pretty stout....my Contender was a handful when I had the full wood target grips. I'm not recoil sensitive but I bruised the heck out of my hand after shooting 25 rounds through mine for the first time. That's when I decided I'd invest in the wooden grip with the rubber back strap.

I've got both the .44 and .357 mag barrels for a Contender.....if you come across one get the .45/.410 barrel...that's unlimited fun hunting and at the range. I shoot skeet with mine every once in awhile and it's challenging to say the least.

Some of the older barrels have chokes so you can shoot shotshells in them. Lots of folks used to use them for rats and snakes. Most of the newer barrels don't have chokes. I have found some barrels online for around $200.

This guy is good to deal with:

Probably a dumb question but did he remove the choke? Mine shoots .45lc great.

If he owns a gun shop then I would guess he did, I've talked to more than one guy that tried to shoot .45 LCs with the choke in and they have tendency to keyhole a bit.

    Returned your IM
