    Outfitter on the property line.

I was looking on the webpage of Local outfitter. and noticed they had trail cam pictures of the same group of bucks in velvet as I had. They had tried to lease the land I hunt, but the deal fell though. After some looking I have found 3 of their stands ringt on the property line. The land they have leased has no woods so the property line is the only place they had to put the stands. The problem is, I'm sure he hasn't planed on telling his clients not to shoot across the property line. There is going a big problem if they do.

Post a sign on your side of the property, directly across from each stand that reads "Notice, this property is not leased by Jonathan Creek, under penalty of law, do not shoot/hunt in this direction." Take a picture of the signage as well in case there is a dispute

Check the laws...in LA, you have to be so many feet from a property line with a permanent stand...

+1 and I would send him a copy of the photo so he would be aware of my knowing he was set up on my property line. It may enlighten him and he can tell his clients before hand to not shoot across the property line.

same in GA, you have to be a certain distance off the P/L, but I'm not sure what it is. It happened to me in Illinois last year, I went to lock on and looked across the creek and there was a guy in a climber that was in a tree that had the paint on it.

Why not try to talk to him and see where he stands. It may not be a problem at all.

He's not the most reputable outfitter. (Drury outdoors allready scolded him about using their name on his website this year and he was posting rewards this year for anybody who could put him on a big deer) When I e-mailed him and left him a phone message about where he was getting the pictures since he didn't get the lease on the ground I was getting the pictures. He never responded, he just removed the pictures from his site.

How's the law read in other parts of the country? I'm not aware that there's anything about the trees on the property line here and I'm sure you can legally shoot game standing on someone else's land. You may need an LEO escort to retrieve it if the landowner refuses access but they will come and provide the escort. Not the best way to make friends but completely legal.

This is no longer true in Maine. See my post below.

Seriously?!?!?!? Maine allows you to poach deer off someone else's land and then get a police escort to retrieve it? That is seriously jacked up!!

The only thing you would get in Arkansas is an arse whoopin.

I know for sure you cann't do that in MO. I shot a deer on our land it jumped the fence and died on the other guys land. Ran maybe 50 yards. He would not let us retrieve the deer. The law was called and they said that even with them there he didn't have to let us retieve it. So the deer laid in his field in plane sight till it was eaten by the wild life. Sure sucked it was a nice 10pointer. This was last year and all the law said was the guy was a azzhole but it was his right.

It's for real. State laws consider all game and all water to belong to everyone so you do not own the deer/birds/fish on your land or the water flowing across your land. The legal right to restrict access to your land is based only on the trespassing aspect, not whether they're hunting or fishing. So if a stream crosses your land, I could float it and catch fish all day but I couldn't legally wade down that same stream without landowner permission.

Wow! Somone would end up dead around here if that ever happened. You cannot shoot onto someone elses property. If you shoot an animal and it runs onto other property you must have permission from the landowner to go get your animal.

Charlie</td></tr></table>Pretty sure that is the way it is here as well. It doesnt matter though, my dad taught me dont shoot across property lines without permission, to him if you shot across the line you might as well have sat on their property. If I shoot one on my side and it runs across, I will ask permission to retrieve or quickly remove if I am deep in the woods. Generally though, I get permission to retrieve well before season starts, and generally get along great with other property owners with mutual agreements.
