Took one with a new weapon

Well to make a long story short....I shot my brothers TC Contender G2 pistol while I was home for thanksgiving....I had to have one. Picked a TC Contender G2 44 mag with a 12' barrel and a 2X Burris scope about three weeks later and took it on a hunting trip to Big Lake WMA in Louisiana over the New Years weekend. This is the first firearm that I have taken in the woods in over 6 years because of my bowhunting addiction. I was told that I could keep my bowhunting mancard if I used a pistol....lol Needless to say, I can not shoot the pistol very well (to my standards) so I setup just like I bowhunt (20-30 yard shots). The first morning I have a cow horn spike trotted in to 21 yards and I pulled the trigger....Damn...that 44 mag knocked him in the dirt. I am talking about it actually sat him on his butt when he was traveling forward. He did regain his senses and get back on his feet for about ten yards and then when down like a stone for the count. It ranked right up there with a bow kill....I am hooked!!! For those that don't shoot a bow try a TC...wow

    Elwood,

I hunt with an Encore pistol in .300 Whisper. Very rarely take a rifle out of the safe these days. I got to the point where rifle hunting was not exciting any longer. The first deer I saw after I starting taking the pistol was like my very first hunt all over again. Have taken 3 bucks and a doe with the Whisper in the last 4 years. Still prefer bowhunting, but this ranks a close second...

Adchunt, I completely agree......I hate letting all of those expensive rifles just sit but the Bow and the pistol will what I'm packing in the woods for a while. I go to Ozark a couple of times a year with the wife 4-wheeling. You are in a great area for deer hunting.

The Eiger probably won't keep up...

It is a deer-haulin' son of a gun, though...

.44 Mag is a deer killer for sure. They hit pretty hard for a handgun

I am sure that the Eiger will keep the pace....I think that one of my Arctic Cats actually has a Suzuki engine in it. We don't ride real hard we just mill around the Ozark moutains all day. It is a blast...we are actually thinking about buying a few acres up there and putting in a cabin for a little get away.
