a group of us went up and hunted snow geese right near the squaw creek refuge area. we did not do too well. the weather was bad, cold then hot, then cold again. the birds were horribly decoy shy. We had over 600 decoys on the ground and managed to shoot 8 birds in three days. not too great. but it was a great time none the less. pics to follow.

As they say..."a bad day hunting (or fishing) is still better than a good day working". At least you got a few, so it wasn't a total bust.

Snow geese are the toughest of all birds to hunt. We like hunting them first thing in the morning and again in the evening. Hunt on ponds in or adjacent to feed fields. In the A.M. we get the geese that have migrated throughout the night and are ready for rest and the ones that have flown all day and are again ready for a rest. Small flocks are what we concentrate on.
