Anyone remember the old Winchester Western and Remington Peters shotgun shell boxes?
I saw a old box of Peters shotgun shells, the blue ones posted on another site, and it reminded me of one of the funniest episodes of my youth.
Mom was headed to town one afternoon back when we lived on Cherokee Plantation just outside of Walterboro. I wanted to go squirrel hunting that Saturday, and needed some shells. I was underage, so I needed her to go in and buy the shells for me.
I remember walking up to the counter, and there was a young girl, probably a high school student working after school working.
I walked right up there and asked
"Hey, where do ya'll keep the "Blue Peters"?![]()
She gasped and ran to the back of the store.Mom whacked me in the back of the head, and I left with a sore noggin and no shells to go squirrel hunting with.
