    tilt tube grease fittings

I am doing my annual maint on the boat and am unable to get grease into 2 of these. I have twin 150 1997 oceanrunners. I have unscrewed them and their is no blockage in the fitting. I have tried to carefully heat up the tilt tube with a torch to see if I could get the grease flowing , but still cannot get them to take the grease. The engines raise and lower fine, but I would like to be able to grease the tilt tube properly. Any tricks or ideas on what to do?
    Thanks in advance...

remove the fittings and use a small - around 1/16" - drill bit in a pinvise and see if packed salt corrosion or dried up grease comes out. Reinstall the fittings and use a commercial duty hand-held grease gun with Triple Guard lube in it. The hardware store 9.95 guns are not very strong.

    Thanks Seahorse,

I am a little confused, thats not hard to do, what do you do with the drill bit? I understand to remove the fittings. What is a pinvise?

    Thanks

The drill bit will cut through hardened salt deposits that are blocking the flow of grease.

A pinvise can be obtained at any industrial supply house or large hardware store. It is about the diameter of a ball-point pen and has a small chuck on the end to hold a drill bit. You turn it with your fingers.
