    i freakn' quit

been having a lousy season. i finally start getting it together, and in one area a couple of boomers were taken been going to a backup area, just finally figured the bastage out a couple of days ago, and he's not quite nocturnal but damn close. i park my truck damn near a 1/2 mile from the entrance point i like to use, cause i know he see's all where he's bedded. get in the stand let things simmer down for about an hour. start doing some lost bleats with a chorus of grunts. 15 mins later you hear BAM . tires squeeling the hole 9 yards. a damn deer gets hit by a car. crap, i know he's bedded over there. i sit awhile to see what happens. i'm starting to hear alot of cars and people talking loud, so i get out of the stand and pack it in with all this commotion. i get in the truck and swing around, there are 5 trucks with folks looking at this deer. i get a out and damn. i'm like WTF, turned out to be the buck i was after, though i didn't know it was this big. at about 220 on the hoof, i'm guessing 4yr'ol, this deer was a monster 10, i'm telling ya it had 14" browtines, webbed rt G2, i couldn't get my hands around his bases. the dnr officer guestimated 180"+ non-typical. to top it all off, the kid didn't want it, but someone already claimed him before i got there . i gave the deer a look see, and there wasn't an aweful amount of damage, he took it in his rt side in the ribs, gauging the blood coming out his nose, it collapsed the lungs. everything else was fine. the guy who claimed it, was complaining about it being a waste of meat, none of its salvageable, but atleast it'll make a nice mount. oh he's been hunting this deer for 3wks, i've been hunting his rubs-BS, no sign of this guy anywhere, but that's neither here or there. he just wanted the deer for the rack, plain and simple, wasting a perfectly good deer, azzhole. so, my season has boiled down to hunting already dead deer, hunters in my stand locations-public can't do anything about that, and the rest committing suicide on me......... WTF i need to just hang it up

i hunt right next to a major highway...to myself probably 75 square acres. bow hunt only. year to year usually im after different deers because of the highway traffic killing them. its tough, but it has its advantages

    That sucks, plain and simple.........................................

but you can't let it change your way of thinking or let it ruin your hunt for the year. It's a long time till next year - just go hunting and enjoy it for what it is - nature and enjoying the outdoors.

One thing is certain - you won't have a shot at another buck if you're on the sofa at home.

    that definately sucks man..........

On a good note, I just got permission to hunt 35 acres about 2 minutes from my house!!! It's a friend of my wife's g-ma!! I'm freakin pumped - I'll be heading over there this weekend to meet her and scout around. I can't wait - now I can finally hunt after work and be SO much closer to my house!!!!

don't sweat it. you could have 3000 acres to hunt and not have the time to go

true, but atleast i'd have an excuse for not pulling it together. what really blows my mind, i can't find a doe, not 1. all i really want is nice ol'sally bout 160 on the hoof for the fridge and some fresh steaks. 2 does be even better, give me some extra meat for sausage, pepperoni and the likes. the only deer i have seen all season long while a bow was in my hand, has been scrub bucks.

oh well, guess it's time to man up and stop whining. i feel a little better now
