87 gt 150 ?????

Ok guys i got an 87 gt 150 it dont say vro on it anywhere and i cant find an oil tank anywhere. I assume im going to mix oil and gas my question is what is the right mix?

I just bought the boat and the previous owner and us went over this thing with a fine tooth comb but he never mentioned this and i never asked as i just got out of a newer boat so it never crossed my mind

My boat had an 85 Evinrude XP on it that blew up and I purchased another *% evinrude (luck I guess, I got spare parts) but this new motor is a Evinrude VRO. The only difference between my two evinrudes are the XP has a grey cowl and the VRO a white. Not sure if Johnson followed the same colors or not but the the motors are exactly the same between Johnson / evinrude.

Thanks if i may sound really stupid here what is 50-1 like a pint per 20 gallons or so? like i said im used to oil injection and dont really want to screw this thing up thanks again guys

I am getting a growling type sound from the starter and the bendix dont engage all the time, the growl comes after i let go of the key when its stopping spinning.

Now im gonna carry it to get it checked out im thinkin from what i have read its gonna be a bearing issue possibly my question is im gonna rebuild this one and where can i get a new one? Any sponsers sell parts like this?

Oh who know a good rebuild guy?? Going to check with a local guy to get a price but would like to find someone who yall have dealt with so i can rest easy on the work.

If I remember right it is 16oz to every 6 gallons of gas...

Bronco, Better be sitting down when you get that top bearing if that is the issue. Might wanna start a new thread and include your model and serial number, that way the guys can advise you on your particular motor.

Yeah went the best guy we got around here this morning and he says could be the spring tensioner or bearings. Tried to fool with it yesterday evening and it never acted up started every time just made that aweful whine when you turn the key loose.
He priced me a new one at $123.?? plus tax and thats bout the cheapest price ive found with a warrenty. Think im gonna grab a new one and have him rebuild my old one for a spare

oK, I was thinking upper crank bearing, not starter... but even better. If he can get one for that, sounds like a good deal for me!

thats what im thinkin thanks for the help! i went out there today hooked the water to in and shot the starter with lube and it all but went away. So im thinkin it just need a little help lol Gonna grab one just to be safe its an easy swap if i need to on the water ya know
