Re: looking for new reel (jvan)

I am in the market also for a spinning reel around $100. I am leaning heavily towards the Pflueger Supreme MGX unless someone can convince me otherwise that is what I am going to get at the BPS reel trade in next week.

For the money the pfluger supreme xt is untouchable.I also have a patriarch magnesium ,increadable reels ,used to be a shimano spinning reel guy but not anymore.

Get you a Shimano... After cleaning and repairing reels for 10 years, Shimano is all I own...

There are several good choices in the Shimano line for $100.

Find the price point you are at and buy that model Shimano.

They are built to last forever.
Parts in the future are easy to come up with.

Go with the Shimano Symetre, its around $120 and the Lowest price reel they make that is good.

its Smooth, build well and durable
you will be nothing but happy, dont buy the cheaper models, they arent nearly as good.

+1, the Symetre is the lowest price range of the internal worm gear system which is better than the oscillating gear system of the lower models.

x1000 The only company that makes a spinning reel in my opinion is Shimano.
