    Trim Tab

I have a 1995 Skeeter 200zx dc 200 merc. efi, there is no trim tab above the prop. My question is do I need this, rather how critical is it that I don't have one?

I know what it does, and I know how to adjust it, I just don't how it will affect the boat with not having one on the motor.

Re: Trim Tab (Skeeter Boat Captain)

If you don't have any problems steering the boat I would leave it alone. My boat did not have one when I bought it.

If you have hydraulic steering, not usually needed. Should have a flat plate where the trim tab is though.

If you leave your engine in the water like in a boathouse, you need to put one on it. The trim tab is a sacrificial anode that keeps electrolysis from eating up the aluminum lower unit. It eats up the trim tab instead.
