    Triton TR18 Opinions?

Ok, well my last boat purchase fell through so im looking at another. Can anyone give me some opinions on a 1998 Triton TR18 Boat. Im driving up to go see it and test it out this week and will probably be pulling it home if it all checks out. Here are some details on it. Its a Texas Twister Edition, Single console, Johnson 150hp, hot foot, evinrude 24v trolling motor with big foot, lowrance x125. Boat runs and drives excellent. Only minor issue is the carpet will need to be replaced soon but thats not a problem for me.

I have never rode in a triton and have not found a lot on this older model. Just wanted to get some honest opinions on the quality of this boat, along with what yall would consider a fair price on the boat. thanks for any and all opinions. Hoping to finally bring home my first bass boat!

I had a '99 Tr20/200Merc for a short while. It was a solid rig, kind of hard to learn to drive due to the chine walk, but I figured it out just about the time I traded it in. As a matter of fact one of the BBC members is still running that boat I believe. Make sure the engine checks out, compression check, etc. The only issue I had was cosmetic. It had a lot of stress cracks in the gel coat. As far as cost goes, I really don't know. You could check it out on NADA to get a very general idea of what it's worth. When using NADA, you have to price the boat, motor, and trailer separately, they don't have any pricing for boats as a package.

What type of Johnson 150? I had a 97 TR-18 with a Johnson 150 Ficht and I never had any problems with it other than the plugs were $10 each and they had to be indexed when you put them in. Which was a royal pain in the A##, you had to go through about 20 plugs to get six that indexed properly. Also they had a lot of issues with the FICHT motors for 1997/98, some say that is what bankrupt OMC, the resale value on that engine is crap and no one I repeat no one will work on them. So in short if it has a FICHT 150 keep looking. One man's opinion.
