Hi,
A question about the grease fittings on a 2002 75hp Merc. I see 4 grease gun fittings around the motor and steering. What kind of grease is best to use and how do you know when to stop filling?
Thanks

good quality water proof grease and you will know cause the grease will come out all over. two pumps of the handle should do it.

light weigh grease on the steering fittings. i use super lube on steering. some of the water proof grease is too stiff eg omc tripple something. but it really great for props just not steering.
I use the Merc grease. Never had any problems and I use it for the propshaft too.
I just bought a new to me boat with a 150 Jonhson Fast Strike motor. I have looked at it quite a bit and do not any grease fittings on it anywhere like my older Evinrude 140 has. Is there a grease fitting for the propshaft and steering cables?
Kirk, tilt your motor up and flip the "trailering bracket" down. There are fittings here to gease the steering tube.
Thanks for the info. I will check that out.
I use Merc grease too, my dealer was out of Yammie grease. They said they use Merc grease on everything in the service dept.
