    prop

I have owned my Triton for several years and never really thought about improving the performance. I just get in and go. I really should learn more about the boat and performance. My question is about props. I hear people talk about blueprint and balance. Was wondering what that meant? What do you look for when evaluating props? Thanks

    Re: prop (TritonMJM)

To have anything balanced and blueprinted means it's balanced, and all the aspects of the prop(blades) are exactly the same. A prop that is brand new, but not blueprinted will vary from blade to blade in pitch, and cup to some degree. You can generally pick up some effieciency with a blueprinted prop, and some speed, and the difference in a prop that is balanced or one that is not, COULD result in a slung blade. MAybe that helps you out with your question.

Without knowing what set up you're running now, it's hard to say what blueprining and balancing would do for it. That's generally one of those "fine tuning" things you do when you've got everything else just right.

Personally, and this is just me, I never bothered to do anything to my boats other than make sure I had the engine height right, and had a prop that right for the boat.

You can spend a LOT of money to make a boat go faster, but in the end, you're not going to THAT much faster than one "stock out of the box." Is it worth it? Only you know that. Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go?
