    Trolling Motor Pedestal Broke

    I need your help.

The switch on my trolling motor pedestal that you turn the motor on and off broke this week.

Should I 1) try to fix it myself; 2) take it to Billy Wells who specializes in Motor Guide trolling motors; or 3) drive 80 miles to the Hampton Bass Pro Shop and let their service department fix it?

The problem is that my new Lowrance sonar unit is now attached to the trolling motor and it has to be removed if I take the trolling motor off the boat, which I do not want to do.

    Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Thanks.

    Rudy,

I do not think so. It is 3 years old.

I will try to find out.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

if you know the problem is the switch it will probably be less hassle to just get a new one and do it yourself than to take it off the boat and leave it with somebody for them to fix. dont forget to unplug it when you fix it though

Thanks for the info on Billy.

He is a great guy and I bring my trolling motor to him for work.

He upgraded my Motor Guide from a 4200 toa 6700 and it makes a world of difference.

Right now I have the new Lowrance sonar on the motor and I do not want to take it off to bring the trolling motor to Billy. And I do not want to bring the entire boat to Billy as you probably know that is not the best of neighborhoods.

So I made arrangements to trailer the boat to BPS in Hampton this Friday.

So thanks again for the reply. I sincerely appreciate it.
