I have a 1990 GT 175, can't find the tag with model number right now. It started running poorly, hard to start and no power. I checked the plugs and one side looked like they were firing and the other side was really oily. My question is could this be a power pack failing or maybe something else.
Check the shift assist. When coming out of gear it will kill 3 cyls to assist shifting. If the button is stuck, then 3 cyls aren't getting fire....
Pull the cowl, and shift into reverse and notice which cable is moving, inbehind that cable will be a switch with a button on it, make sure it's not sticking....the button.
Crossflows don't have a shift assist switch. SMACK

you can go to auto zone and pick up a spark tester for 6bucks if you have two power packs then mostlikely its that,if you have one then you know you would have to replace the whole thing

I looked all over for the shift assist button, I was starting to think someone was pulling my leg. I did have to adjust my hot foot and throttle linkage because when I pressed the hotfoot all the way down, throttle plates were only opening half way. Could that cause plugs to foul and in general run bad and cause hard starting?
