Fish in Weeds With DI ?

I know you can see fish with the SI but can you see fish in weeds with the DI ? Or tight to a weed line? And with DI what is the range of the bottom that you see, does it depend on how deep you are?

Re: Fish in Weeds With DI ? (eyedabassman)

Seeing fish in weeds on DI might be a little bit of a hard sell.

#1 weeds usually don't grow much beyond 20ft deep (most 10ft or shallower). So if you run over a fish chances are it'll spook.

#2. The foot print of the DI beam is a straight line. so if your over weeds and your stationary it'll be a blur..

Now if you can get grass to grow deeper I bet you could see fish on the perimeter of the grass.

Range of the bottom you are seeing on DI is proportional to the beam width you are using and the depth.

I'm taking a stab at this but if your in 30ft of water in narrow beam your seeing a straight line 10ft long

In medium beam in 30ft of water your seeing 30ft straight line

Wide beam???? Doug?? I think wide beam has like 75 degree angle?? so I am guessing your seeing like 50ft??? Anyone here good at geometry LOL

I haven't seen fish in weeds with DI, but the weeds I fish are so thick they will support a 3/8 oz jig. One thing about DI in weeds is each weed stem is shown even in thick weeds. Any fish in a less dense weed bed should show up well.
This is a weed bed point that is like hydrilla (egeria) using DI.
