    Sheds/Small Workshops

Moving into town and the garage will hold my boat but wondering if any of you have one of the 10x12, 12x12 or larger yard barns you've made into a workshop or place to tinker around. Would love to see pics.

I've looked at a lot of the prefab buildings but I can build one cheaper and make it more user friendly, better insulated and to suit my needs. Just wanting others ideas.

I built a 1/2 shed - 1/2 storage building that is 16 x 16 total. I park my jon boat in the shed side which also has a loft area for storing lumber. The storage side has twin barn doors. Has all my yard working tools and my riding mower as well as a lot of other "junk" stored inside. I put on a shingled roof and painted it to match the house. It was still cheaper than buying prefab. Not perfect but serves the purpose.

    Looks great.

What I'm hoping to build will be 12x12 or 12x16 all enclosed, insulated and finished inside so it can be heated and cooled and used year around as a fishing workshop. All yard tools will be kept in the garage.

    Thanks,

Don't know if you are still interested but I built a 10x12 place with double fench style doors 2 windows originally started as my fishing shop somehow taken over as a garden house. I built work benches and put in the pegboard on one wall and also has a loft cost was around 1400. It's on a slab pad it is not insulated but could easily be done. I got the idea from a book and it is more of a New England style shed. Neighbor wants me to build them one but haven't gotten to it. I just went to a local lumber store and told them what I wanted to do. If you are interested let me know and I will send you some pictures. Someday I plan to claim it back

    Re: Sheds/Small Workshops (TR21Bassin)

Here is my workshop. It's 10'x16', fully insulated and air conditioned. We don't have any need to heat it down here. I've ran full eletric out to it with 4 separate circuits. Inside is not completely finished yet, but im working on it still. Just have other home improvements im working on right now. This is where we make all the baits we sell. Inside it has an office area, a production area, a painting area, and in a couple weeks the test tank corner will be finished. Insulated, with a small window style unit framed in, I can keep it under 80 degrees in 100+ degree heat. Right now where it's in the 80's, im able to keep it at 70 degrees.
