2000 Johnson 150 carb engine miss

Hey guy,s I appreciate the way you help some of us who don't know their way around an outboard like you do so I was hoping you could help me. My motor developed a miss at idle some months ago and I tried the obvious: plugs, checking wires and fuel filter. Having taken the cover from the carbs I noticed that when I hit the fuel primer, gas shot out from around the red lever on the primer solenoid. The red lever is cracked halfway back in the housing. first off would this cause the engine miss and will I have to buy the whole solenoid or could I buy the top half that screws onto the solenoid. Also I live in a Boating desert and don't have access to a good parts dept. could someone recommend someone. Thank you very much.

That could very well be the problem for the miss. You can replace the top part , also the o ring pretty cheap. Sponsors on here will ship parts to you or you can go to the evinrude link at the top and have your model # handy to select which engine you have. I would fix the leak before running it again....

Thank you for the info. I haven't ran it since I saw the primer problem. Will fix the primer and see if the miss is gone also. Kinda think it will be. Thanks Bassmeister.

    Re: (JeffA)

Thanks and I might take you up on that although I have already taken it apart and messed up the primer lever and plunger trying to fix it. Am going to call my local dealer tomorrow (doubt if it does any good as I bought my boat from C and O ). Will get back with you on wed. (that will be the earliest I can get back on the comp). Will work it out if necessary then. Thanks , Mark
