    Help with 250 ho

    08 250 HO
    Model E250DHLSCS
    Serial 05225323
    12/07

Bought this motor on a z520 new in June of 08. Motor has ran great. Started perfect every time, idled smooth, low end to top end has ran perfect. Had it wide open today and noticed what seemed like a slight miss for just a second. Continued on where i was going. Fished for a couple of hours. Started back up and it idles very rough. Could not get it above 2 grand. Running pretty rough. This came out of nowhere. Dealer is a ways away, gonna take it in this week. Wandering if any one has experienced this? Any feedback would be appreciated.

You need to take it in. With that said, I would bet an injector.

Well I have an 09 250 etec ho. It has ran nearly perfect. I had the exact problem as he stated. I took mine in and it had 93 hrs at the time and it was an injector. BRP sent one over night and I was back on the water in 2 days. It now has around 150 hrs on it and it runs as good as the day I got it. I have had 7 different motors in the past 10 years. I have ran all 3 brands and they all had a bug or two when new.

Hey dgreen did you have a check engine light come on? I didnt. overheat came on twice idleing back to the ramp. Took it in to dealer thursday, they are going to try and start on it monday. Said it should have threw a light if it was electrical. Something mechanical would not have thrown it. Sound right to you? Im stressin!!

Your problem sounds very similar to mine. I did not have a check engine light or any faults on the computer. I was fishing and when I fired it up, it pushed me on pad but would not run over 4500 RPMs. I sat it down and it wouldn't get on pad again and idled funny. I couldn't get more than 2000 rpms out of it. When I was idling back in, my motor got hot then, but that was it. They first thought I had a poppit value stuck with grass because the motor was actually too cool to make power. Then they tested each cylinder and found that number 5 injector wasn't working which is an important one. It never showed a fault for that either. BRP sent an injector overnight and they had it on in about 30 mins. and about 10 more to program it back in. When they had it running on the muffs, you could hear the difference when they put the new injector on. It runs very well and I continue to be pleased with it. I got a Z520 DC also and I ran 72.1 with a heavy load (full gas, full livewells, 3 fishermans' equipment, and 3 people in the boat Saturday. I took out some of the college guys for FLW. I would not worry too much. Etecs are known to drop an injector.

Re: Help with 250 ho (dgreenfishing)

My 08 250 HO had three injectors go out before BRP replaced them all. I had right at 100 hours before the first went out. The next two went out within 30 hours on the motor. All three times my motor acted as you described. BRP and Jeta Marine were wonderful to work with. They had me back up and running in no time. I have warranty until 2013. It is scary to think about what it will cost to replace an injector that is not covered by warranty.
