2004 Evinrude 225 HO DI Questions!!!!!

I am completely satisfied with my motor just wanted to know if when I first start the motor in the morning when i shift from neutral to forward then idle toward the dock to tie up and i shift back to neutral my motor seems to die when shifting it out of forward. Just curious if anyone with a HO DI motor has this problem it doesnt do it later on after I have ran the boat for a while just seems to do it when i first put in the water. I dont think it should do this since this is not a carb motor. Please Help?

It usually means you need to de-carb, clean the exhaust pressure sensor then change and index the plugs.

Have that motor and have on occasion experienced that - ditto to what Danrude said, plus grease the shift interrupt switch in case it's sticking.

It is annoying - try lubing the switch.

I am not clear based on your reply. Have you de-carbed the motor? Also have you switched to the optional plugs and changed the T-stats to the E-Tec type, if not you may want to consider doing so.

T-Stats are $24.00 each and the price of the plugs which you can purchase for approximately $7.00 each. I would do it the next time you need to change plugs.

My 03 DI when it would do that, new plugs indexed and gapped to .028 would always quit doing it. 'Course I had a great tech that rigged and installed the engine.....I think that means a lot with these engines.
