Light wire spinnerbait breaking

I read this the other day and tried it. It works, but I can't take the credit for it. Place a split ring over the line tie for light wire spinnerbaits, then tie your line on. The split ring keeps the wire from over spreading, weakening, and then breaking. Does not interfere with how the bait runs though.

That would work. I usually take my night blades and make about 5 or 6 wraps of 30 pound braid around the R bend. It's like putting a brace in the bait and it helps a lot. These Coosa River spots will destroy a spinnerbait.

i find that a terminator spinnerbait last a lot longer.

How do those spots know when they can't break something? I can't catch anything on them either.

Anybody tried the twist type wire with good results?
