    Cushioning the rod holders.

Hated the idea of sliding my rods on the hard plastic rod holders in the boat so I did some low rent modifications.

The wear on my rods. Should be all yellow. You can see the scuff marks.

    The culprits!

The solution. Double sided tape and some foam strips.

    Installed

So far so good. Like 'em a lot better now.

Good idea but eventually the tape will pull off, especially when its 100 degrees out and the glue loosens up.
How about putting them in rod socks.

The soft side of velcro works well also. Nice job. JimC

imo, that red double sided tape is the best I have used. Super strong and has yet to fail on me. I used this type to attach drywall corner bead under my compartment lids for holding spinnerbaits, etc. Two North Carolina summers later, they are still holding strong. They should hold just fine. Gotta be the red-backed tape though, its by far the strongest.

Used mine one time. They sure looked nice in the rod locker, but it's a pretty dumb ideal if you ask me. +1 on the stick jackets and you can get twice as many rods in the locker.

Look, congrats to all you guys with the stick jackets. Glad you like em. I just happen to prefer the rod organizers. A few months so far in the worst humididty I can ever remember up here and they're still holding strong. By the way, it's an idea, not an ideal. So pretty dumb there "if you ask me" .

Yep, you got me on that one, thanks for correcting me and please forgive me for the misspelled word. I'm truly sorry you had trouble comprehending my post. I never said your idea was dumb, if your going to use those poorly designed rod locker organizers, then will need some sort of modification to keep them from destroying expensive rods.

Hey Joe, any idea that works for you is a "GOOD IDEA"! Sort of like a "DUMB QUESTION". It isn't a dumb question if you don't know the answer. Many great inventions started with a "DUMB IDEA". Thanks for sharing.
