Jack Plate idea

Not sure if this is the right forum or not, but is it possible to convert a manual jack plate to a hydraulic. I believe my jack plate is a CMC manual 6 inch setback. My buddy has the same thing, but it is hydraulic. The only difference is mine has the big threaded rod to adjust the height, and his has the hydraulic cylinder. It really doesn't seem like it would be hard, Just take out the threaded rod, and mount a hydraulic cylinder. Then hook up a mercruiser tilt/trim pump (They are on ebay all the time). Has anyone ever thought of this or attempted? It would be an easy way to get a hyd. for like 100 bucks.

The side bolts would have to stay loose.

I just got a cmc plate and was thinking the same thing. I didn't have a hydraulic to compare with though. I think I'll try this in the next few months

If you guys find anything out about this let me know....

I've got a 6" Bob's Machine plate....With my length boat I can't see needing much more than that (I might try a 2" spacer when experimenting) but the hydraulic would be really nice...
