I used this black rubber product you can buy at most lumber/home stores. I just put in a few screws here and there and cut with a razor knife to fit.

My feet would sure like that. I wish Bullet would have let me use the closed cell foam padding in 2003 when I asked them to do it for me. They said that it would create a problem with the openings. I was going to put the closed cell foam on top of my carpet like you did and another layer of carpet over it with snaps. This way I could take it off if need be.

This blends in fairly well with charcoal carpet. It oxidizes a little bit and becomes more gray than black. I'll never have another boat without it. I didn't try to do the whole deck, only just up front where I stand to fish. I didn't want to challenge the deck lids. I'm pretty sure you can get this in different colors but I don't know where. I saw the black for sale at Lowes' I think.

You got the wheels turning...I like that idea!!!!![]()

yeah, where did you say you got it? I don't recall ever seeing anything like that at any home improvement store I've ever been to.
It would work well on my deck because my Tracker doesn't have any opening doors on the bow section.

I've purchased those interlocking mats at the local Harbor Freight Tools store. You should be able to order it online if you don't have a store nearby. I believe it's listed as anti-fatigue mat.

that looks great im going to try that thanks.
Please tell me more as I am very interested in this product as a possible solution to cover wear in my boat carpet under the driver seat. I visited the website you suggested and ordered a sample of the material.
How did you affix the material to your boat and was it laid over the existing carpet?
Do you think this material would be an attractive, and practical, method of covering over an area of worn carpet? (I am reluctant to simply re-carpet the entire boat because only a small area is damaged and re-carpeting the floor area only would undoubted result in a color mis-match)
Got a guy here in Louisville, KY. that installs that type of rubber padding under the carpet as an upgrade to a new Carpet installation job. Anyone close to Louisville and want his telephone number let me know and I'll send you the info for him.

Yes, I would very much appreicate that information. You can email it directly to me, if you desire, at johncsettle@bellsouth.net
Thank you
I had a padded front deck on my boat. I absolutely loved it. The bad part was the carpet started to get wrinkles in it. I had heard rumors from other owners (not just Stratos) about this happening on the front deck. Well Stratos was super and recarpeted my boat less the padding. I miss it, but don't want to go through that again.. your idea above sure gets me wanting to try it!!![]()
I like the general idea of padding the front deck......
How are you attaching it to the deck?
Does it leave any permanent results if it were removed?
Does it pose any problems with moisture or mold?
Is it more likely to grab hooks?
How about just cut out some of the mat to match the bottom of your shoes then glue them on the shoe. Then you"ll have the padding everywhere you go.............![]()
its a great idea but i was wondering if ot would work better if it were put under the carpet... hmmmm now you got me thinking about it... thanks
Although this is not a bad idea, I would be seriously concerned this stuff would take flight if you were to get a gust of wind under it and wouldn't be too fun to get "slapped" in the face with going 60-70+![]()
You might consider using some angle aluminum on the front side to keep air from getting under it and/or have it butt up against the front where your fiberglass is.
Also keep in mind that the interlocking pieces could separate, maybe glue them together.
