Chatterbaits ???? I'm making some.

I was going to make some of my own. I've got one question......What makes the difference if you use a split ring to attach the jig or use the jigs with an open hook eye?

Local guy makes high quality spinnerbaits and jigs. His attempt at a chatterbait was lame...very little vibration. The only thing I noticed was he attached his blade direct.

I would go with a split ring or the way the Wing Ding is attached.

You can use either. If you use split rings and a regular hook you need to double split ring it. If you use the open eye hook make sure it is closed good. Me personally i use the double split rings. If you use a flat eye hook you can use just one split ring.

AJ, I made a bunch of chatterbaits last year.. I found the copy baits I had bought in stores, that used split rings, wanted to surface if I reeled them in fast? I always liked the original Chatterbait style of connecting the blade directly to the jig, for that reason alone.. (As long as the hole in the blade is large enough, were the eye attaches to the blade, I doubt you'll be able to tell the difference in vibration from one style to the other.) PS. I got the jigs with the open eye for attaching directly to the blades, at either JansNetCraft, or Barlows.. (CRS acting up, dont ya know) A quick search of their websites should turn up anything ya need!!
