this really works
take a pair of socks. cut them where elastic stops not where you put your foot in. discard bottom part. cut a 1 inch hole about 1 inch below where you cue the sock. put on with thumb thru hole. fingers are free for reels and tying.

I tried it. It did keep my wrists warmer, but my hands still froze. I think I may have cut my thumb hole too low and couldn't cover up enough of my hands.
