GPS's are great but, I feel there is no subtitute for hard copy maps when it comes to recording your fishing trip or preparing for a new adventure out on the water. You can easily purchase maps for most popular areas of water but, for the out of the way spots you're basically "On Your Own"! Here's something that might help.
http://www.terraserver.microsoft.com/
This site contains both topographical maps as well as aerial photos of just about any location in the continental US. Just click on the state and area you want. Then at the top of the screen there's one window that says Topo and one that says aerial.
Here are some sample of the images available:
(images shown are not full sized nor zoomed in tight)
(when you first zoom into and area it shows up as an aerial photo so, you might switch to topographical to help get your bearings. Topo shows town names and road markers.)
These maps, you can print and take with you to help navigate. You can write down structure locations or just about anything you might want to remember about a specific area you fished.
Best of luck!
