Never loose your fish net again

Hey guys, I saw this on TV and thought it was a good idea. You get a can of great stuff and fill the handle of your fishing net with it until it comes out both ends. Let it dry and cut off the extra hanging out of the ends. Now if you drop your net out of the boat or your buddy forgets to put his foot on it when you blast to the next hole, it will float instead of sinking to the bottom. I know some makers have nets that will float now but us poor boys still carry the big green Wal-mart specials that sink like a rock. I know that great stuff is some powerful stuff and has been known to expand until moving stuff so whether or not it will split the handle I dont know but I am going to try it on mine.

Re: Never loose your fish net again (chefxian)

I'll give it a try. The only time I went out alone this year my net blew out. I did not see it when it went but It was gone when I got to my first hole I wanted to fish. It was one of the rubber nets and is kinda heavy. never thought about it blowing out but it did. I was thinking about using foam packing peanuts or whatever they are called but this might be better.

Go to Lowes, Great Stuff will be on aisle with insulation as well as several other areas throughout the store. I really need to make this modification to my net. I lost one just like it. Blew out of the boat and was gone before I had a chance to turn around.

Re: Never loose your fish net again (javelin400)

I did on my net (it's a heavy one with rubber net from Basspro) and it worked like a charm.
I have some spray left over,,,,so,,,I may try to put some in rods that has expensive reels on them to see they float.
Of course I will test in my swimming pool ;-)

    Thanks for the great tip.

im not positive on this but i woud think puttin the foam inside a rod would "deaden" the "feel" of it

I think so too and it will also make it slightly heavier.

Re: Never loose your fish net again (Bass Junkie)

Making it a little heavier on the butt actually works positive way in terms of balancing the rod,,,,but it will defenitely kill the sensitivity.
Yeah,,,,,I guess it was just an idea on the whiteboard
