    Rusty hook solution

here's an idea to keep hooks from rusting in utility boxes. Place some uncooked rice in your boxes to absorb the moisture. Rice is cheap and you only need to replace it maybe once in a season unless in extreme environment or situation.

    Re: Rusty hook solution (Bassfinatic)

That sounds cool and I will start practicing it right away. I posted this question on another thread and got a bunch of responses, but wasn't able to capitalize on them and still kept getting rusty hooks.
Hope this one works... just changed out/treated three boxes of hooks on crankbaits.

Silica gel packets work great also. You can get them in Pharmacies, shoe boxes, etc...I put them in my tackle trays, rod lockers, and in the back of the boat with the batteries.

    Re: Rusty hook solution (bassbustn)

I do the same thing Tom, it works great. I have a couple in every utility box in my boat. I have even ripped open the pack and put 10-20 or so beads in each compartment within the box.
