I had bought about a half dozen rods from the same about a year or two ago, well over time I have abused and chopped off a few rod tips and broke a few rods into pieces. I took the broken rod and took off the remaining line guide eyes, since they were all from the same manufacture, as they were all the same eye and kept them as spares for any other of the sister rods that I might abuse in the future. So many times I would waste a rod eye and take it in to get another eye put on and I would get it back and the eye would not match, now all I have to do is worry about the color of the thread they wrap on it. Save your old rod tips that might get chopped off, as they will probably be the same size as the other rods that you bought at the same time, so if you crack a rod tip insert you have a quick fix with a lighter and some glue to replace it with an exact spare from a previously destoyed rod.
