    Rod Locker Organizer Build

Going to add a rod organizer to my existing rod box. The only problem is that my rod lockers are not always dry (thanks xpress). What material should I use for the frame. Ive thought about treated plywood but wasnt sure it wouldnt warp when wet. Thanks guys...

UHMW Plastic. Should be able to pick some up for under $50. 1/2 thick minimum, easy to work with and drill thru.

    That would be my vote.

Re: Rod Locker Organizer Build (JD#5)

I made one for my old 96 202 Champion using 1/8" aluminum and golf bag tubes. I didn't build anything for the butt end of the rods but UHMW or plywood covered in resin should work pretty well.

I see projects where guys have used plastic cutting boards on here. Looks good and it should work great. I am going to do this for my boat with cutting boards and plastic golf tubes.

1/8 or 1/4" Lexan can be used. Cutting board material works, too.

I have a bunch of golf tubes that I'll part with. IM me.

Use the white cutting boards and golf club tubes. They cut perfectly and are pretty much indestructible....Good Luck!

Sorry it took me so long to get back I was at a TX you can google UHMW and it should show you where. I think the last stuff I bought was off Amazon of all places. It's good stuff and easy to work with.

If I remember right, you take an empty 12 pack box and cut one of the sides out. You then get 5 or 6 drinking straws and some tape. Tape the straws to the cardboard and adjust them for contact points inside the locker. Once the dimensions are set you can transfer them to what is left of the 12 pack box and do a connect the dots trace. Cut the cardboard to the size you just traced out and use that for a template. Once set use the template for use on the cutting board material. Drill out the desired number of holes using a hole saw and then silicone the golf tubes in place. Wal-mart or Bed Bath and Beyond or most any place has the cutting boards.

    Re: (davidikus)

I agree. I even used several cutting boards from walmart...roughly 15" x 24".....I cut them to fit the bunks on my redone trailer to ease the on and off process..This material is something else...
