Need Expert Help on PDP I Bought

Hello. Hoping someone can help me here, Evinrude parts could not.

I purchased the following PDP with relays second hand from ebay since it was for only $50 vs. $400. It was sold as part 586754 with relays 586224 within it.

According to the parts manual, the PDP panel for the evinrude 2002 E225FHLSNF is 586754 ( and the face of it is part 586301 ).

The part i bought looks PERFECT but i noticed that even though it has the same face plate, the imprint on the back of the PDP is part 586457. Maybe the mold just has the 754 digits backwards ?

Does anyone know if there is a way to know if this part is in fact the same part I need other than plugging it in and finding out if it works ? Wire colors, something that is special ?

    Thx

I know this will not answer your question...but instead of buying a PDP send yours to DFI and get it refurbushied. If my memory is correct it cost around $125 plus shipping.

I have called them a few times and somebody always answered the phone. They rebuilt my PDP but could not duplicate the problem I was having with my ECU so I had to buy a new one

The part # 586754 is the assembly number and I suspect that the 586457 is the component number for the circuit board minus the cover, fuses and relays. I would try it if it were me.

Re: Need Expert Help on PDP I Bought (Danrude)

The only thing that scares me Dan is that the PDP top left plug thta has 14 wires going into it on my engine has some of the wires with different colors. They sold it to me with a cut off plug going into the unit.. so i can see the wire colors.

Is that a warning sign of an issue maybe that this is not good for my engine ?

Here's an update... i went ahead tonight and installed the PDP. It seems to work just fine... trim and engine run fine in driveway.

I'm finding out that these connectors that you need to crimp and put in these plugs have been my nemesis. If you don't get these connectors real tight.... u are in for all kinds of problems.... ground shorts like i had and just basic things don't work right.

Lesson... ensure the PDP plug connectors in the lower left and upper right plugs are VERY tight.
