I HAVE A 1996 EVINRUDE 150 INTRUDER MODEL # COMING SOON ANYHOW TONIGHT I WAS ON THE LAKE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND BUZZER CAME ON, HOWEVER IT DID NOT SLOW TO THE 2500 RPM LEVEL I SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN CRANKED IT BACK UP AND IT WAS DOING FINE ONCE I GET TO THE 50 MPH LEVEL IT COMES ON AGAIN I READ ANOTHER POSTING AND IT ALMOST SOUNDED LIKE THE FUEL RESTRICTER? PLEASE HELP

Time to have a mechanic with the fuel vacuum gauge do a live fuel draw test in a test tank at the rpm needed. section 2 in the factory service manual-good write up and other specs for this sympton. This will let you know if you have enough VOLUME of fuel on the draw side. remember that the fuel system starts deep down in the bottom of the pickup tube in tank. keep in touch. David.

Dave is right time to do a vacuum test on the fuel system the alarm is for a fuel restriction. I comes on over 4K rpm and the signal is sent by the vacuum switch.
