I had the upgrade done on my 250 HO and now I can be running down the lake and it will go into the power reduction mode. This happens when I'm running around 4000-4200 rpm. Guess It's back to the shop again!!!

Any warning lights come on?
What rpm is the motor limited to in the rpm reduction mode?

No warning at all, the rpms go to idle speed and I get a power reduction message on the gauge. I can shut it off, restart and it runs fine until the next shutdown.

Are you reading the "reduction notice" from a genuine Evinrude I-Command gauge, a Lowrance LM-400 gauge, or a display from a sounder or chart display?
The dealer will have to plug in the laptop to view any error codes. Sometimes in a motor as yours will have the knock sensors have to kick in and will eventually slow the motor, but to 1200, not idle.
If it is a knock situation, make sure it is not caused by false sounds such as loose items in boat, power pole rattling, or some other vibration, before condemning the motor.

The message comes from my Actia gauges, I know about the knock sensors. The last time I had this problem they said it was caused by my SI transducer. I have tightened the transducer and had not had the problem until the upgrade was done. I'm not condemning the engine but it is a little aggravating. I have noticed that I seem to be using a lot more gas and oil since this started. I don't have a power pole and can't find anything else that might be rattling.

For warranty coverage, Evinrude requires either a System Check gauge with a horn and warning lights or thier I-Command guage with a horn. You can use other gauges in conjunction with the factory approved ones. Off brand digital display gauges do not have the capability to show all the error codes or warnings that the factory ones do. Evinrude says they can refuse warranty on something that the operator should be made aware of on an approved warning gauge.
If you only have a display, get a factory gauge and horn installed, too, for your motor's protection and your peace of mind.

These are the gauges that came with the boat and I believe in most Stratos 201XLE models. I will check on the factory gauge.

I took the boat in today, there were no codes for the reduced power problem, BRP had the tech replace the plugs, check and clean the crank positoning sensor, re-route the wire for the sensor and re-map the computer. I will be on the water next week to see if the problem is solved.

I took the boat out Friday, Saturday and Sunday and it ran pretty good considering the heat index was over 105 all three days.
It never went into the reduced power mode any of the days.

Had mine do the same thing and it was a bad oil pump. Watch your oil levels. Good luck!
I never let the oil get below 1/4 tank.

I never let mine get that low either, but it still went out. Just my 2 cents!
